aften noticing a huge difference in shoes..when before i didn't believe they matter...i would have to say the Wades are better because of more flexibility while mainting the strength for the ankle support... they might not be as durable for a long period of time...by meaning 2 years+...but i dont think any player in a competitive league should have the same pair of shoes for that long...

I usually wear Nikes because they seem to be very tight whereas Adidas are more loose and comfy fit. My favorite is Lebron 2s with big straps and zoom air on the bottom. I still wear them. Vince Carter 4s with a bunch of shox things on the bottom.

One of my players used cross-trainers on our clay courts and before I noticed them she jammed her foot, ended up in the ER and was casted for 6 week with a fracture!!! Be smart, wear the right shoe!!

How do you preserve basketball shoes ?

Depends on how much you want them preserved or how long you intend to keep them, clean it on a weekly basis. You can buy those shoe cleaners at your local sporting good store. If it is indoor basketball shoes, don't use them outside for any reason. If you do ended up using it outside for any reason, make sure you clean the bottom part the same day, otherwise, the dust will gather and stick to the bottom of your shoes and ruin the traction. A good way to clean it is using microfiber cloth and just wiping it down.





I tend to have a game shoe, strictly for indoor, and regular shoes for outdoor. This way, your game shoes will always have traction.

Keep them clean, wear them only while indoors, keep polish on the leather, if any.

Basketball shoes need to provide support for the ankles because of the impact that caused from jarring the ankles side to side. Typically they are mid to high top covering the ankles.





Running shoes need more cussion from the feet slapping pavement or worse. They don't necessarily need the high ankle support so they tend to be low tops below the ankles.

Well, from what i know, socks doesn't really matter in basketball shoes and it does not really improve your game or anything. Just get a pair of nice comfy socks and that's done.











For basketball shoes, the main idea for basketball shoes are to protect your ankle (ankle sprains are very common injuries in bball) and to improve your jump. There are different kinds of protection, low-cut, medium-cut and high-cut. Low cut ones are like normal running shoes, medium cuts are somewhat higher then the normal track shoes and it covers about half or more of your ankle, high cuts are those which protects your whole ankle and mainly has a Velcro to tighten your ankle. This would be more of your preference, i personally use low-cut now, since i still study and medium cuts and high cuts are kinda too big, but for me, medium cuts would be best. XD





Also, the brand would also matter. Go for AND1, they are one of the best, and also NIKE Air Jordan is good, but they are very expensive. You can go to Royal Sport to get them but for AND1, its not commonly found in stores, i remember i saw them in the city area, forgot where, but near the skate park.

Depends on what kind of player you are. If you're a quick player you're gonna want to get light shoes with lots of traction for fast cuts and sudden stops. You'll also want to get shoes with at least mid to high ankle support, to avoid injuries when you make cuts. It really all depends on what kind of player you are. If you're taller or slower it doesn't necessarily want to get heavier shoes, you might want to lighten up since it might make a difference in your speed. For socks you really only want to get ones that allow your feet to breathe since if you get ones that don't your feet will sweat too much and overheat and make you way too uncomfortable and could even lower your playing performance. If you give more details on the type of player you are then I could better assess what type of shoe you need. But you just need to think about the player you are.

I would get the most comfortable pair of shoes out there. Everyone is currently mentioning everything expensive and are materialistic. Have fun with that. I would much rather have comfortable shoes than "cool" shoes. I would go into a shoe store and try to find a shoe that feels good. Get something that has the support you need and are light weight and good cushioning. As far as socks go, I usually go with the crew cut low socks so they are hidden in my shoes. However, sometimes the back of the shoes rub on the back of your foot and cause blisters and whatnot, but I would just get what's comfortable.

Socks dont really matter but if i had to choose, i would choose socks that come up higher than your shoe, and probably choose nike, dude. I have a pair of Nike shoes that i wear for my games, and they work very well and i have had them since august. I would vote for nike.

nope, you can use chucks, like the pioneers of basketball did, however, you have a higher risk of getting injured in these shoes than the basketball ones.
Reply:Basketball shoes are designed to give good ankle support. If you don't wear basketball shoes then you better have some sort of ankle support because there is a lot of changing of directions quickly in basketball and you will be prone to rolling an ankle.

Reply:i sell shoes at academy sports and outdoor store in the footwear section. The Nike Shox is design as a running shoe, which should only be used when ur in a forward moving motion, like when u run. In basketball, although you are going to be running straight, sometimes you move sideways and such. Depending on the Shox you have, if its a running shox, then no, not at all, if its the Cross Trainer Shox, then it can be used. Although you will be missing out on the extra comfort from the basketball shoe, since it isn't design to be light, for the runner. It focus more on the Support of the ankle and heel. I suggest you get a mid range Basketball shoe, for about 50 dollars, that give you all the basics, EVA support, and Ankle Support. Now if you want to stay loyal to nike, get the Shox Basketball that Amare Stoudmaire wears, or the Basketball 360 Max! lol

you asked the right person. if you want to spend 9.98-14.98, get Starburys. they are really good. Reebok can also make good shoes, almost all of them are under 100%. Adidas has some good ones also. Maybe the T-Macs or the KG's. I recomend the Adidas T-Mac 5 or the Reebok (RBK) ATR Pump Mids.
Reply:Looking for back support go with no other shoe other then new balance. They have great shoes because there not as bendable as a nike. Nike shoes are the worst because you can bend them and twist them if you try and do that to a new balance it cant happen. I wear new balance for back support.

you should consider the folowing in your shoe first the heel and second the feet arc the heel should be a spongy or have some desigen to be a shock absorbant cose most of the shock is going to go to the heel and if the shoe has a bad designe for the heel that can not absorb the shock then it will reflect back to the forleg going back to the knee and for the feet are it is the arc that could be founfd in the inner part of the shoe it should fit your feet inner arc so the will support them during your workout other whise you will have a very painful injury called interosis membrane inflamation

Huarache 2K4's and 2K5's. Some of the best basketball shoes ever made. Extreme ankle support. Lightweight. Look pretty good. I'm sure they have to be a good price for them now. I paid 100 for my 2K5 about 2 years ago and I still wear them today.





Another would be the LeBron III Low. They are very lightweight. Not as good for the ankles like the Huaraches, but still decent.





Also take a look at the adidas Men's T-Mac 5.

I prefer the CPs because Chris Paul is my idol and they look pretty hot.
