Well all good and comfortable basketball shoes are a bit pricey, but you can never go wrong with air jordans, which are a bit pricey, but are light and stylish.
A step down would be nike, which is a bigger company than jordan. Nike has great basketball shoes, and feature tons of varieties such as air maxes, shox, and huaraches. Nikes are super comfortable.
most pros wear nike basketball shoes such as steve nash, tony parker, jason kidd, and Gary Payton, who all wear the zoom bb.
I highly recommend the zoom bb from nike because it feels like you're going faster than you actually are, and the zoom air bag is truly amazing and comfortable. Or get any light shox based shoe because they are DURABle and supportive. They last a long time and help with impact and are pretty comfortable too once you break them in.
The zoom bb is probably the best, but they're so popular they're rare.
Lots of shox based shoes are on sale now, and they give you good value, so get them.
On the other hand, if you don't trust nike for some odd reason, get the adidas TS lightspeeds caz they're the most comfortable, and light adidas basketball shoes yet. Great value too

2. they are tall and have added support with the velcrow.
3. most important, they have a wide footprint which prevents me from rolling my ankle.
I have almost wore these shoes out, and to my surprise - I haven't sprained my ankle once yet (as opposed to the 3 times a month I used to)

Reply:To the previous answerer, no Shox are not just for running! I have a pair of Shox basketball shoes and the are probable one of the best pair of b-ball shoes I've ever purchased. They are light, have great support but it does even feel like I can jump a little higher. I've worn Adidas and Reebok in my time and they were alright. But when I wear Nike (particularly Shox), I can CLEARLY feel the difference. I'm getting a little older in age so my basketball days are numbered. But if I was still a young baller, this would probably be the only brand I would purchase from here on out. I'll still probably purchase them for running and cross training though. Good luck.

If you are not worried about the brand names most sporting goods stores should sell Shaq's shoes or Stephan Marbury's "Starburys" which are under 40 bucks.
You can also check the clearance racks at your neighborhood shoe stores. You can usually find some good deals, but keep in mind, these shoes don't have boxes because they are usually pairs that have been returned.

Reply:The answer is yes. BUT it depends what kind of feet one will wear them. This tough on the outside/soft of the inside shoe is very expensive, you know this is a brand name shoes. No two set of feets are the same, if you have been wearing rubber shoes all your life this is the shoe for you but if you are a person who wears flip-flops all the time forget wearing them. I highly recommend one must try this shoes first, this pricy shoes may look good on you but the long term effect on your posture will ruin you for the rest of your life. Reply:The answer is yes. BUT it depends what kind of feet one will wear them. This tough on the outside/soft of the inside shoe is very expensive, you know this is a brand name shoes. No two set of feets are the same, if you have been wearing rubber shoes all your life this is the shoe for you but if you are a person who wears flip-flops all the time forget wearing them. i just got them and wore them once but they make my feet sore and uncomfortable. Is that a bad sign or is that normal. How long should I wait to see if they improve?

Sore feets. those are normal and they get better after few days but if they are not comfortable then return it. Or you can take it from my experience you have to try the basketball shoes for few days before playing in them in an actual game. Its the only way to get comfortable. I would buy the shoe in 0.5 or 1 size more than my regular size. For example i wear 9 but I wore 9.5 instead. For Lebron zoom II, it was 10 and for Kobe zoom I it was 9.5. my casual shoes are 9. Also make sure your front toes have enough breathing room because you will need the gap when making a full stop. Without it, they hurted. Alot.

Dribble with your head up, looking down the court. Be a team leader. Run the plays, look for the open man. Have the quickness to get to the hoop, but the awareness to dish to the ball to the open man if the defense closes in on you.
Have the ability to knock down jumpers if the defense sags off, leaves you to double someone else, or goes under a screen.
Play defense with your eyes focused on your defender's hips. Don't watch the ball, and don't go for fakes. Call out screens. Keep your hands up, and defend in a crouching position with your knees slightly forward and your butt back. Keep yourself between your man and the basket. Notice if he is right-handed or left-handed, and then play so that he is forced to his weaker side. Use the sideline as another defender, and never allow your man to drive baseline.

Jordan Laneys are on sale now for 69.99 at Foot Locker. They are nice in appearance, not heavy, and provides good cushion and traction. A lot of the Nike Team series are good too like the Airmax elite and the nike elite huarache. You could also try and search them off ebay... just be careful of the fakes there though. KG's bounce basketball shoes sell for about 80 bucks at Finish Line. They are a good pair to ball with too.

aften noticing a huge difference in shoes..when before i didn't believe they matter...i would have to say the Wades are better because of more flexibility while mainting the strength for the ankle support... they might not be as durable for a long period of time...by meaning 2 years+...but i dont think any player in a competitive league should have the same pair of shoes for that long...
...just get the wades..much better

The "Pump" allows you to pump enough air into the shoe so that it gets snug enough so that you have maximum ankle and foot support. Unfortunately, they won't help you achieve that highlight dunk. :)

I usually wear Nikes because they seem to be very tight whereas Adidas are more loose and comfy fit. My favorite is Lebron 2s with big straps and zoom air on the bottom. I still wear them. Vince Carter 4s with a bunch of shox things on the bottom.

I usually wear Nikes because they seem to be very tight whereas Adidas are more loose and comfy fit. My favorite is Lebron 2s with big straps and zoom air on the bottom. I still wear them. Vince Carter 4s with a bunch of shox things on the bottom.

I'm not a super expert, but i know enough to realize what shoes i think best suit me..
admittedly, i am a Nike guy.. (they should pay me for this plug)
but that doesn't mean that you have to specifically buy Nike's..
see, for example, I'm a guard/forward type.. i do a lot of sprints, stutter steps, cross-overs, laterals, slides and jumping.. as it is arguably the most arduous position of the five, performance and comfort are equally important to me.. i don't want to twist any ankles, but i also don't like that feeling of burns under the arches of my feet..
i have to say that there's three pairs that i would give my ok on.. the first two are from Nike; the Zoom Kobe 1s and the LeBron 4s..
The difference?
Kobe's kicks are lighter, but you get a better feel for the floor.. the performance is outstanding, as you get to move freely without feeling a lot of strain on your feet.. and, the pair is probably the most comfortable i've worn since the Hurrache 2k5s..
Meanwhile, the Lebron 4s give you a powerful feel, as compared to the finesse feel of the ZK1s.. although much heavier, the foamposite material around the shoe becomes almost a type of protection that lets you power through the defense..

Depends on how much you want them preserved or how long you intend to keep them, clean it on a weekly basis. You can buy those shoe cleaners at your local sporting good store. If it is indoor basketball shoes, don't use them outside for any reason. If you do ended up using it outside for any reason, make sure you clean the bottom part the same day, otherwise, the dust will gather and stick to the bottom of your shoes and ruin the traction. I wear New Balance high-tops. They are the only true pair of stable sneakers I could find. Most basketball shoes are made for guards these days. BTW...I weigh 300 lbs.

Also, the brand would also matter. Go for AND1, they are one of the best, and also NIKE Air Jordan is good, but they are very expensive. You can go to Royal Sport to get them but for AND1, its not commonly found in stores, i remember i saw them in the city area, forgot where, but near the skate park.

Depends on what kind of player you are. If you're a quick player you're gonna want to get light shoes with lots of traction for fast cuts and sudden stops. You'll also want to get shoes with at least mid to high ankle support, to avoid injuries when you make cuts. It really all depends on what kind of player you are. If you're taller or slower it doesn't necessarily want to get heavier shoes, you might want to lighten up since it might make a difference in your speed. For socks you really only want to get ones that allow your feet to breathe since if you get ones that don't your feet will sweat too much and overheat and make you way too uncomfortable and could even lower your playing performance. If you give more details on the type of player you are then I could better assess what type of shoe you need. But you just need to think about the player you are.
